With the holidays quickly approaching, the Thanks-For-Giving Table Hop is a great way to help a worthy cause and maybe meet that special someone.
The event, being sponsored by Table for Eight social club, will be held Nov. 21 at the Townsend Hotel in Birmingham and will serve as a fund-raiser for the Capuchin Soup Kitchen.
The Table Hop is open to the public and gives singles a chance to enjoy a four-course meal, with each course being served at a different table. Guests will be seated at tables of eight, allowing participants to meet 28 other eligible singles.
Last year's event drew 184 people and raised several thousand dollars for the Capuchin Soup Kitchen.
"We have moved the event to the Townsend in Birmingham so we can accommodate up to 280 people," says Regina Stocco, director of Table for Eight.
The Royal Oak-based organization sponsors arranged dinner parties for groups of four men and four women, as well as other events for singles throughout the year. The group currently draws about 750 singles to dinners each month. Since opening last year, the group's membership has risen to more than 1,200, and they recently sponsored three engagements. Table for Eight has three-, six- and 12-month membership packages.
Tickets for the Nov. 21 event are $75, and advance registration is required. Guests may register online at www.TableForEight.com. More information is also available by calling (248) 543-1000.
"We are also encouraging guests to bring nonperishable food items to the event, to be eligible for a special drawing being held that night," Stocco says.
